Paul Johnson is a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy specializing in outpatient orthopedic care with a strong emphasis on sports rehabilitation. He earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of South Dakota in May 2022, following a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science at Southwest Minnesota State University in 2019. As a Division II student-athlete and Academic All-Conference honoree on the SMSU football team (2015–2018), Paul brings firsthand understanding of the physical demands, injury patterns, and mental aspects of competitive athletics.
His sports rehabilitation expertise stems from personal athletic experience and targeted professional roles. As a strength-and-conditioning intern at the University of South Dakota (2019–2022), he supervised lifting sessions for women’s softball and men’s football, gaining insight into injury prevention, performance training, and return-to-sport protocols. His undergraduate research on countermovement jump landings directly informs his approach to lower-extremity rehab, ACL protocols, and plyometric progressions.
He further honed these skills through hands-on volunteer work at the SMSU Campus Physical Therapy Clinic, assisting wheelchair basketball athletes with treatment planning and providing postoperative pool-based rehabilitation for adaptive athletes.
Since graduation, Paul has applied this specialized sports background across diverse clinical settings in four states, treating athletes and active individuals in both rural and urban orthopedic environments. His practice in the Denver metro area focuses on helping patients of all levels return to sport, work, and recreational activities with evidence-based, individualized care.
Deeply committed to service, Paul participated in the Tesoro Project in Guatemala (August 2025), delivering physical therapy in clinics and home visits while assisting with community water-well construction. He also tutored college students in Anatomical Kinesiology and Motor Learning & Development.
Paul combines advanced orthopedic knowledge, athletic perspective, and genuine compassion to deliver results-driven rehabilitation.
